Lost Children

We have safety measures in place to prevent children leaving the hall unattended. When any child needs the toilet a member of staff will always accompany them. However, in the unlikely event of a child/children getting lost the following policy will be applied:

  • Remain calm
  • Nominated members of staff to ensure that all other children are safe and secure by calling the register.
  • Search for lost child/children by nominated members of staff by retracing child/children's last known route/activity. Call out to the child/children using a calm, not panicky tone.
  • Obtain help, notify relevant parties (community centre staff) informing them of relevant details of what the child was wearing, carrying out complete physical description together with details of where and when last seen.
  • Inform parents and police of situation.

If a child/children were to be lost when group was on an outin we would follow the above rules but use public address systems if available, security guards and managers help also.

Before any outing a risk assessment is made to ensure the utmost safety.
